[Movies] Eddie Murphy Talks Riddler Rumors
Posted by Larry Csonka on 06.11.2009
Rumors are fun kids…
Eddie Murphy was on The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien the other night, and talk of him playing The Riddler in the Dark Knight sequel came up. Murphy stated that he had heard the rumors, but knew nothing about him being considered for the role. He did discuss that he would like to play "Egghead", the character played by Vincent Price on the 1960s Batman TV show…
"Egghead, I could be Egghead. All the eggs references! Egg-cellent! Eggs-quisite! They'll never crack this hard-boiled case!"

Honestly the way his career has been the past several years, he NEEDS a role like this. something that would be a total 180 from his usual role and force him to freshen his shtick up a little. If he were on his game, Eddie might just might make this role great. Besides - remember how much the fanboys hated the idea of Heath Ledger as the Joker?

Tom Petty as Mad Hatter.. book it!

Its really hard to say what Eddie Murphy would do for the Franchise. Whats was everyone's reaction when they first heard Heath Ledger was playing the Joker. I thought Heath was a horrible choice and he knocked it outta the park. Whoever the actor playing the Villian, i'll keep an open mind

He was great as Egghead for those 45 seconds on Conan.

:)
Eddie Murphy was funny back when he was a racist bigot. Now hes a different kind of joke.
The Riddler is white though. NOT BLACK. Maybe Will Smith can play Mr Freeze...

Eggpic Fail!

I think Eddie would rather party all the time, party all the time, party all the time.

Mickey Rourke as Clayface, no makeup needed.

Johnny Depp or Nathan Baesel. There's your Riddler.

No, Crispin Glover as Riddler, I can't imagine nobody else doing a better job with the role nowadays.

If Eddie Murphy plays Riddler I will not spend my hard earned money on that fag. Crispin Glover for Riddler!

Oddly enough, there was once a rumour about either Bill Murray or Tom Hanks
playing Batman and Eddie playing Robin. This was back before Burton's Batman. If true, thank God this did not happen.

Daniel Day Lewis = Riddler

Paul Reubens for the Riddler.

Lighten up Murphy bashers...he was joking. After all the good will that was created with the last 2 movies wiping the dick snot off of the franchise that was left by Joel Schumaker and George Clooney, it would be obscene to try and recreate a lame assed t.v. show villian. And as long as Dreamworks will pull Shrek out of their ass every few years Eddie will always have a job. Its kind of sad how everyone turned on Eddie Murphy though...Sure he was the genius behind Norbert, Meet Dave,Holy man,and Neptune Perkins. but he also made several movies that almost define the 80's. Not everthing King Midas touched that turned to gold was a good thing folks. If you look at the career of peter sellers, you will notice a trend. Mega talented actor makes a few Hit movies, then sets a new record for movie flops. Time will tell the true legacy of Eddie Murphy, just like it did peter Sellers.

yeah, i agree with ya! Beverly Hills cop & Coming to America are still his best movies. Obviously he has an audience somewhere on earth with his bad movies, cause he stills makes money off of them and he keeps making them. Working with Nolan & Bale and his career could come full circle

I think Eddie should take some dramatic roles. His comedy is beyond tired and he got a lot of respect for Dreamgirls. I don't hate the guy, i just hate all of his movies. To be fair i haven't seen Trading Places yet.

Eddie Murphy can play anything, cuz he's a damn good actor. If he don't wanna do Riddler, that's fine with me. As long as the Riddler isn't played by gay 80s crap packer Anthony Michael Hall (who played a reporter in Dark Knight). I rather have Ben Affleck do The Riddler than gay ass Hall. Anthony Michael Homo should stay 100 feet away from the part of The Riddler, cuz he would bring down the entite movie.
